British Values
Promoting Fundamental British Values.

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is "right" and "wrong", all people living in England are subject to its law.
As a school, we value and celebrate the diverse heritage of everybody at Marnel Junior School. Alongside this, we value and celebrate being part of Britain. British values are an integral part of our enriched curriculum and moral ethos.
We embrace and learn about a variety of traditions, customs, festivals and commemorations in the course of the year. Some of these include Diwali, Remembrance Sunday, Christmas, Easter and Eid.
There are fundamental British Values which must be promoted in schools. Pupils at Marnel Junior School are taught them explicitly through Whole School Assemblies as well as encouraged to show them in other areas of the curriculum, for example, through RE and PSHE lessons.

The Key Values are:
- Democracy
- Rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
Promoting British Values at Marnel
