Marnel Junior School

Christmas events at Marnel

Good Afternoon,

This is just a quick ParentMail to remind you of some events coming up in the lead up to Christmas.

Next Wednesday, 4th December, we have a Q&A session about our Behaviour Policy at 2pm. This will be an opportunity to meet Mr Jordan, our new Acting Headteacher from January, and ask any questions you have regarding the behaviour policy.

Year 3 are well under way with rehearsals for their Christmas play. We hope to see many Year 3 parents coming to watch on either Tuesday 10th December at 9:30am or Wednesday 11th December at 2:00pm. Please can we remind you that there is limited space, so if you are able to find alternative arrangements for younger siblings, this would be appreciated.

Our annual carol concert is taking place at St Bede's om Thursday 12th December. We will be leaving school at 10:15am, if you are able to help us with supervising our walk to the church, please let the office staff know. You are also welcome to come and join us at the church from 10:45am for the service.

Also on this date, Thursday 12th December at 2:15pm, we will be having our festive coffee cake and read session. There is limited space left for this so if you are interested, please get in touch with the office asap.

On Friday 13th December we will be having a whole school mufti day in exchange for donations towards the raffle at the Christmas fair. We have allocated each year group with different items to bring in, and these are:

  • Year 3 – Chocolates

  • Year 4 – Snacks (not perishable or refrigerated. Ideas for this can be popcorn, biscuits, cheese crackers, cereal bars, crisps etc.)

  • Year 5 – Bathing/pampering (ideas for this can be, bath bombs, soap, bubble bath, candles etc.)

  • Year 6 – Bottles

We will be using some of your donations to put together Christmas Hampers to raffle as well as running tombolas!

Our half termly bowling reward trip will be taking place on Friday 13th December. Letters will be coming out to the chosen children next week.

On Wednesday 18th December our Christmas fair will be kicking off from 3:30pm with various stalls of handmade gifts, games, raffles, tombolas as well as food and drink to celebrate the festive season.

Our Christmas dinner will be held on Thursday 19th December, make sure that you have ordered your child's dinner to avoid disappointment.

Finally, the last day of term is on Friday 20th December, and the school day finishes at 1pm. Please collect your child as normal from the playground. If you are unable to collect your child at 1pm, please let the office know, and we will make arrangement for them in school until 3pm.

We hope to see lots of you at many of these events, this time of year is always so busy in school!

With best wishes

Mrs. Herring
