Transition to Secondary School

Transition to Secondary School

Our linked Secondary School is Everest Community Academy which is run by Bourne Education Trust.

Marnel Junior School is a feeder school for Everest Community Academy a local secondary school in the same catchment area.

In preparation for secondary education, Everest provides transition days for Year 6 children.

The Head of Year 7 meets with Year 6 teachers to plan for smooth transition for all the children due to start there in September.

Children with SEND have a number of additional days where they visit their secondary schools in preparation for transition. Everest also sends Year 7 teachers, in the summer, to work with groups of children which we find very useful in alleviating any worries they might have.

Everest also provides taster days for children in Year 5, where the school plans and delivers exciting lessons for these children. The most popular activities they offer are ART, PE and ICT.
